CR 108 bridge: New decking being placed

Crews install new steel decking on the County Road 108 (Thompson Creek Road) bridge near Carbondale.

On Thursday, crews began removing the old decking on the County Road 108 (Thompson Creek Road) bridge and replacing it with new steel decking that arrived on Wednesday. All steel materials needed for the repairs are now on-site, and the approximate completion date for the project is July 24.

The new one-foot-wide, heavier gauge steel decking is being welded down one piece at a time in the north lane, with roughly one-third of the new decking already installed. This process will continue through June 12.

The pedestrian walkway remains open over the CR 108 bridge, though temporary delays may occur to ensure public safety near welding, and active machinery and equipment.

Detour routes for the Glenwood Springs side include County Road 109 to Highway 82 near Ironbridge/Westbank; or Dry Park Road to County Road 117 (Four Mile) to Glenwood Springs. Carbondale traffic is recommended to use highways 133 and 82.
